Today in Math, students worked on their toughest Kapla Challenge yet, building structures to protect a plastic cup from a crushing force of 10 pounds. We then moved into an investigation of addition and subtraction fact families, but instead of simple whole numbers, the students reworked sentences with mixed numbers, even solving basic algebraic sentences. Tonight's homework is to finish the classwork (pg. 22 A-D) and complete A1-3 and B1-3 on pg. 23.

In Science, we played a game called "New Bird in Town", in which the students worked in pairs representing two types of birds - the native bluebird and the invasive sparrow. The students will use data and discussions from today to complete a Summative Assessment tomorrow in class.
