Today in math students solved open-ended problems in groups designing courts that could be built to share a side with a grassy lawn. We talked about the multiple ways of looking at the problem, shared strategies, and compared many correct answers. For homework, the students will continue working on their choice of number puzzles: either one long puzzle involving GCF and LCM or three shorter ones.

In Science, we have begun our unit on Ecosystems! Today students looked closely at several ecosystems, taking notes on the abiotic and biotic factors, as well as the conditions of climate in that ecocystem. Tonight, students were asked to bring in a sample of each from a habitat near them. Nothing that can escape, crawl around the room, or have babies. :)
