Thursday, September 3rd: Scales Problems

Tonight's homework: Complete as much as you can of the three-page packet titled, "Scales Problems". The problem solving strategies used in these Scales Problems are aligned with the Noah's Ark problem we began today. Today's was a lesson on Grit. We defined 'grit' as "having the self-confidence and self-respect to not give up." We talked about the skills necessary for being a problem-solver with grit. It takes a person that has learned to try multiple strategies until one works, and to use resources that will help them see the problem in a new way. So far, the groups have made many discoveries about the problem, but we are still waiting for our first solution...
